NEWEST VACCINES FOR YOUR CAT
3 Year Rabies-- If your cat has had two Rabies vaccines, the second one is good for three years. If you reside in Harris County, however, a vaccine must be given before the previous one expires to be good for 3 years.
Feline Leukemia-- This disease kills about a million cats each year in the U.S.A. alone. All cats should be protected. Cats that go outdoors and those that live in multiple-cat households are especially at risk.
Feline Infectious Peritonitis (F.I.P.)-- This disease kills about 500,000 American cats annually. Cats that go outdoors are especially at risk. There is a chance that an unvaccinated cat may not catch F.I.P., but there is no chance for those that do. The disease is always fatal.
Feline Immunoficient Virus (F.I.V.)-- The "Aids" disease of cats is in the same family as Human Aids, and it can calls a seemingly-endless variety of ailments which defy conventional treatments. It is spread by bite wounds and is very common amongst outdoor cats or large families of indoor cats. A test to see if your cat is negative can be run in our clinic. A vaccine is available to protect negative cats.
NEWEST VACCINES FOR YOUR DOG
3 Year Rabies-- If your dog has had two Rabies vaccines, the second one is good for three years. If you reside in Harris County, however, a vaccine must be given before the previous one expires to be good for 3 years.
3 Year DHP-- We can vaccinate your dog every 3 years for Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvo. The Leptospirosis and Corona are still given annually, however and are therefore given separately. Though slightly more expensive, this method avoids over-vaccinating for some diseases and may help prevent vaccine-related problems.
Bordatella Vaccine-- There are six known organisms that can cause the "Kennel Cough" condition. Two of them (parainfluenza and adenovirus) are in the DHLPPC vaccine your dog gets each year. Now Bordatella vaccine is available and is given as an injection or nasal drops. Kennel operators and groomers usually request that this vaccine be given within the last six months to help protect your dog against one more cough-causing disease.
Lyme Disease-- Very common in the northeast, this disease affects about 2% of the ticks in Texas. Fever, joint problems, and lethargy result. Vaccination is recommended for dogs that go camping, hiking, running through the woods or high grass, or are otherwise predisposed to tick exposure.
